Geneva Report 6/2/09

Today I had some of my regulars aboard for their Spring fix on Geneva. All the way to the lake it was lightning big time and my client Steve was trying to negotiate a Rain check the night before the trip. I was able to convince Steve that we would be able to salvage a good trip, so he took my word for it.

Lucky for me my intuition paid off and the storms had passed just as I launched the boat and I was off the hook with the forecast  Steve's clients Bruce and Blad were veteran anglers, so they were ready to get on the water and stomp some butt. Our first spot took a while to settle down after the storms passed but the action didn't disappoint us once the fish started moving in. Bruce was our annual big fish catcher 3 years in a row, but Steve had different plans for this years Spring outing. Most of our fish were caught in 17 fow with Steve catching his personal best smallie registering at 21 1/2 inches. Blad was not far behind with a nice 20 incher.

Congrats to Steve on his big smallie. He needed that big fish this year after having the memory of loosing one of my rod and reel combos over the side last fall.  See you again on the 19th of June Steve.

Mother Nature seems to be trying her best to play havoc with the temps and winds switching direction every day and sometimes by the hour. That's when persistent anglers can make a difference and Geneva has a lot of real persistent anglers.

I think we only need to fish 2 areas today to satisfy our needs and that's the kind of day I like.

*The cautious wolf fears the pit, the hawk regards with suspicion the snare laid for her, and the fish the hook in its concealment.

See ya on the water,
