Thursday June 4th Report.

Not only is June 4th my birthday, but it also seems to be Roy Herman's lucky day. Along with Roy today was His grandson Nick and son-in -law Scott. When the guys entered the boat I was presented with a birthday card and a 7' 6" med/light spinning rod. Now who says men aren't thoughtful? My thanks to Roy and his bride Trish for the surprise gift.

We started out at 6:30 am and after some brief instruction (by the coach) the guys were primed for action. We only needed to fish 3 spots today to fulfill the teams smallmouth fantasy's. Depths covered were from 10 to 23 ft and we were noticing some of the infamous green slime was beginning to float to the surface. Man do I hate that stuff! It will soon be replaced with newly emergent weed growth as it happens every year.

Roy being the senior member of our team was voted most likely to succeed by the crew and he didn't let us down with a dandy of a smallmouth topping an impressive total of smallies including his grandson Nick's 20 incher. The next plague to come along will be the little white cotton thingies that come from the trees. They have just started to fall and are a real problem on a calm day. They just cling to your line and need to be removed immediately or will screw up your line for the day.

*They say you forget your troubles on a lake, but that's not quite it. What happens is that you begin to see where your troubles fit into the grand scheme of things, and suddenly they're just not such a big deal anymore.
