Temperatures were consistently in the low 70s this past week. The weekend brought a couple cool mornings and some brisk, but manageable north winds for the MTT fishermen. However, the fish didn’t seem to care with multiple teams bringing in the maximum 2 over slot walleye on Saturday. The winners on Saturday weighed in a 4 fish tournament limit over 19 pounds! The biggest walleye of the tournament was a 31” fish that tipped the scale at 9.1 pounds.

Our guides are still heading up to the north end of the lake when the weather permits. During some of the other days there has been good fishing in deeper water out from Zipple Bay. Limits continue to be common, with good numbers of slot fish mixed in and some over the slot too.  Anchoring and jigging frozen shiners or leeches have been the go to approach. Some are fishing a frozen shiner and a leech together. Gold, pink/glow red, and chartreuse have all been good jig colors this past week. Drifting with a spinner rig and crawler is producing fish equally well depending on the wind. There are good numbers of fish even closer by too. Pine Island is still producing smaller eater fish and even an upper slot fish now and then in 13’ to 19’.

The weatherman is calling for another week of mild temperatures in the low 70’s.

There are still some openings in July. Bring 5 and get the 6th person free on packages this month.
