welcome to the mno.  how did you come by to choose that area? the reason I ask is if you know someone up there maybe they can put you in touch with some locals who can let you know where the concentrations of people are. your best bet the first year is to get a hotel somewhere and have a few areas to hunt picked out. show up late and just see how many people are at each spot and then go to where the people aren't and stake your claim. that zone you'll have 3 weekends to hunt and each weekend will get fewer and fewer people and if you can hunt during the week chances are you'll have the woods to yourself (and maybe a few deer if you scouted properly)
If science fiction has taught me anything, it's that you can never have enough guns and ammo when the zombies come back to life... "WS"

thanks beeks. ya my buddy has a cabin on big sandy, but he hasn't really done much hunting up there yet. we've recently picked up some long range rifles and are looking for an area where we could reach out and touch a few deer. we've been slug hunting in western wi for a while and thats just starting to get old. i have some maps from the dnr that show some wildlife areas, but we're just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of a good area to kind of spot and stalk? thanks

be careful in that area... even though it is "state" land, there are groups and families that have hunted the same area for years. they pull off the side of the road and camp, they get there on the Wed. or Thurs. before opener to claim spots.  They get pissy...
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?
