Bass regulation on Little Mantrap Lake discussed Sept. 17

Anglers who fish Hubbard County’s Little Mantrap Lake will have the chance to discuss that lake’s experimental bass-regulation during a public meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17,
in the Northwoods Bank community meeting room, 1200 E. First St., Park Rapids.

DNR Fish & Wildlife staff is seeking public comments on whether to retain, extend, modify or remove a regulation that prohibits the harvest of bass between 12 and 18 inches and allows anglers to keep only one bass longer than 18 inches. The experimental regulation has been in place on Little Mantrap Lake since 1997. It is set to expire in March 2010. Staff will present evaluation data about the existing regulation.

Those unable to attend the meeting at can obtain a summary of evaluation results from the DNR Area Fisheries supervisor Doug Kingsley, 308 S. Grove Ave., Park Rapids, MN 56470. Written comments must be submitted by Friday, Oct. 2. Comments may also be submitted via e-mail to doug.kingsley@state.mn.us.
