Anyone know anything about Esser's Chick?

Is that a specific dog or a general blood line....?

this may also be of importance to you.

Chick was described as "A new shot of gunpowder from Germany". Chick arrived in the states in 1965 & is still showing in a 5 generation pedigree after 41 years that is very impressive. Chick's sire Axel V. Wasserschling {hof}. Chick & Axel had some of the greatest influence on the gsp's with their prepotentecy that will probably never be equaled again.

So Esser's chick was a female/bitch...a specific dog.

I wonder what the importance or the significance of having that dog in your own dogs bloodline is....

Isn't the most important thing the dogs parents?

And what you do with the dog......

Where is Little River when I need him?

The dog was a great but as more generations come the dog  genes start to dilute. It is good to see the pedigree has great dogs in it and know that your dog comes from some greatness. As for what you should do with the dog..... now that is up to you.

Esser's Chick shows up in a lot of pedigrees but way back.? I believe he was a German import dog and he produced very good hunting/trialing dogs.? He was very "typey" and had pretty good style on point too.? At one time he was tied as the 7th leading producer of Field Champions in the GSP breed.? All the dogs? I've had (not that many) have Chick in them somewhere.? He's so far back though that his blood means nothing.? Usually he's in the 5th generation back and probably further back now days.? Parents and grandparents are what you should focus on.? If you have a pedigree you are researching post some names and I might be able to tell you a little about some of them.

Figured out where Esser's Chick shows up in my dogs.  Esser's Chick is a little ways back in the pedigree of FC Jig's White Smoke.  Jig's White Smoke sired 3xNFC Rawhide's Clown.  Jig's White Smoke and Rawhide's Clown show up in lots and lots of pedigrees of hunting and especially trial bred GSP's.  They show up multiple times in my dog's pedigrees but there are back a little ways too.

Thanks for the replies...

I wish I had the pedigree but I don't have it and won't until next week. All I know is that the dogs Father is one of the shorthairs in the Purina ad.

Next week i'll have more info.

Just starting to look into all this stuff. Finding it somewhat interesting ;)
