        With the water temps still struggling to hit a consistent 60 degrees the fishing has been a little slow for a typical early June.  The majority of walleyes I am catching are still over mostly soft bottom on windswept shorelines and points.  There is a limited amount of fish activity on some of the main lake bars and humps weather they be sand or rocks.  We are starting to see a few more 14 to 17 inch walleyes each day and still plenty of fish in the slot.  The jumbo perch have also been well represented in the catch with some real post spawn monsters being caught most days.

        On a high note I have found more baitfish in the shallows in the past week and many hungry walleyes right behind them.  Some walleyes are also starting to show up near the edges of the weeds.  I am optimistic that another hot bite is soon to come with some warmer weather in the forecast.
       
       Lindy rigs with a 5 or 6 foot leader have been best for me tipped with a minnow.  I have also had more success each day with crankbaits in 18 to 24 feet.  Jigs are still producing fish for me but rarely out producing the Lindy rigs.
   
        Some big fish have been reported in the last several days and I think many more will be caught in the next couple weeks as the water temps finally start to increase.  Remember to practice Catch Photo Release (CPR) so someone else has a chance to catch a fish of a lifetime!

Hey Casey, thanks for the report.

The Walleye action has move on from Lindy rigs, to jigs for me in recent days.  Water temps have finally moved into the upper 60's and lower 70's in many areas of the lake.

Most of my fish are coming out of deeper water this week than they were in the past few weeks.  Deep mainlake points and shoreline breaks, have been my go to locations, much of the last week. Walleyes are starting to show up in larger pods than they were just a few days ago.

With the bug hatches looming on the horizon, Walleye are staging for the big chow down on the mayfly larva.  Fish that were scattered all over the place, are now concentrating on more predictable locations in the mainlake basin. Right now I am ponding them on a jig/minow presenation.  As we get closer to the ug hatches the bite will move on to a little different pattern.

If you find rising bugs on your electronics try bottom bouncers with spinners and crawlers.  Fast moving live bait presentations can be "stone killers" during the bug hatch. I also like pulling minnow style cranks through the bug larva.

The Smallmouth action has been fantastic the last couple of weeks.  They have been on a great bite on several different presentations.  The topwater action has been excellent in the early hours of the day and in the evening.  Spinnerbaits and crankbaits have been the hot ticket during the midday hours.  Rocks, docks, reeds and points with scattered boulders, have all been hot locations this week.

The Pike and Muskie action has begun to pick up as the water temps rose above the 65 degree mark.  Emergant weed beds and rocky shoreline breaks, in 6 to 12 feet of water have been my go to locations.
Spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, in-line spinners and husky jerkss have been producing lots of toothy critters for me the last few days.

thanks for rthe reports I bet it will help The last couple weeks I have been using just a jumbo leech and had some decent success. Wed. evening we got into some great largemouth action it was one after the other in the same area with the largest 23" My buddy in another boat got that one. Almost all the walleyes boated were in under 12' of water
