DNR to hold open houses on Lake Winnibigoshish fishing regulations

Anglers who fish for walleye on Lake Winnibigoshish  (Winnie) and connected waters will have a chance to discuss the experimental fishing regulation with DNR staff at open-house style public meetings.

Open house schedule:

Tues., Oct. 20 - 7 p.m. - Bug-O-Nay-Gee-Shig School, Highway 2 between
Cass Lake and Bena
Wed., Oct. 21 - 7 p.m. - Minnesota Interagency Fire Center (MIFC) Training Room,
402 SE 11th Street, Grand Rapids
Wed., Sept. 23 - 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. - DNR Headquarters, 500 Lafayette Road, St. Paul.
Meetings will begin with a short presentation followed by an opportunity to ask questions and comments on the proposal to extend the existing protected slot regulation for one more year.  DNR fisheries managers say the extension is necessary to complete a more thorough analysis of the effects of the regulation and to recommend potential changes for future years.

Those unable to attend a meeting may submit written comments to the DNR Area Fisheries Office, 1201 East Highway 2, Grand Rapids, MN 55744 or by e-mail to . Written comments will be accepted until Oct. 31.
