If you want to hunt big game, go Rhodesian Ridgeback.  Otherwise, i'd say roll with a lab, it's your safest bet.

I also still need to convince my mom. Think I'm getting to her so it shouldn't be soon for a dog.

We stopped by the Humane Society today and found a Golden Retriever mom let Jakergreen take home.  He is 3 years old.  Loves to fetch.

My last two Black Labs where rescues, one that a guy called a junk dog because he still had his dew claws.  I took so much pleasure when my junk dog showed up his high dollar dogs.  :woot: That junk dog had a very good nose, hard headed and would go through anything, but also hard to control at times if he wasn't e-collared.  The rescue I have now is 4 years old, a lot of champions on both sides of his family, but nothing in the past several years.  He is starting to really come on, but a very tender guy, a 180 degree difference from my first Lab and very, very controllable without a collar, but do run him with one just in case.

Jake, work and play with your new hunting buddy and maybe you will be in the same situation as I am.  I get asked all the time to call my hunting friends when I go out, but I rarely do, I enjoy just following my dog around, watching him work and learning his signals, the birds we take home are just a plus to the day.

Thats awesome Jaker!  Looks like a fine dog.... get some pigeons for Rocky to chase around the yard, and be carefull how you introduce gunfire to him... its easy, just do it when he's chasing a bird and not just firing a gun for no reason... in fact, use a cap gun when Rocky's chasing after one of those pigeons. :happy1:  Cant go wrong that way... Good luck with your new friend, treat him good and he'll do the same for you too! :happy1: ;D
