Do Fish Feel Pain?

 :coffee:
Animal rights groups have gained a lot of media attention by making claims that fish feel pain when they are hooked by an angler. Some of these groups have publicized 'research' that suggests hooking a fish causes the same reaction as if one were to impale a fish hook in the mouth of a dog. These efforts attempt to portray anglers as cruel and fishing as inhumane.

But are these claims true? How can we know for sure?

If we could get a fish to actually show us first hand what happens when an angler hooks them, what would we learn about fish feeling pain?

The answers may surprise you ...

Put a hook in an activists lip and he or she will go exactly where you pull them to.  Put a hook in a fish and it will go anywhere it wants to.  Humans have  high level of sensory nerve fibers in different areas than fish.   Question ?  Do you ever talk to activist of any type that doesn't have tatts or piercings in highly inervated areas?  Why would you do that intentionally. It must be good for you.  If the enlightened ones do it on purpose should we not impose this on the lesser beings?   We are doing the fish a favor.  Even though they don't feel it,  we are helping them express their  individual identity.   :fishing2:

Try that logic with your next nutjob and you will be seeing this

Do soybeans, carrots and wheat grass feel pain when we rip them from the ground or shear them off at the stalk or yank their fruit from the vine?  Scientists would tell you so according to studies done when trees are cut down.... :doah:  When will people come to grips with the fact that we are mammals that have to eat to exist.... Do these people think about wildlife that is displaced when we turn prairies and woodlands into plots to grow their beans for their tofu, wheat grass and granola, or do we grow that stuff on the moon?!?! :banghead:
