In spite of the early ice out we experienced April 4th and 5th on most lakes in the Ely area,  water surface temps still remain cold.
Burntside Lake had 48-49 degrees yesterday morning, and most others aren't much warmer.
With conditions as they are, many fish could be in the 30-40 foot range as they were last year, so don't be affraid to try many different depths.
Warmer weather is supposed to move in by this weekend, but will take several days to to warm the water.
