SCENT LOK FOUND GUILTY

5/14/2010 According to Tom Leach, of Merchant and Gould, which represents the Plaintiff's in the Minnesota case against Scent Lok, Cabela's, Gander Mountain and Browning - It was announced yesterday, that the Judge in the Minnesota lawsuit found Scent Lok guilty of False and Misleading Advertising. 

Editors note: After all these years - the truth comes out - and I was right in my assessment of their claims all along.

Isn't it right to make the truth known, as I've been trying to do - instead of people sticking up for Greg Sesselman and Scent Lok because they "know him" and "he is a nice guy" - except he has misled (lied to) people?

For writing about this - I've been maligned and verbally attacked, banned from some talk forums, and black-balled from some publications - because I dared to tell the truth about Greg Sesselman's and Scent Lok's claims about their activated carbon products. Was it worth it?

Maybe this will set new standards for advertising - in the hunting industry ...

i don't know the whole story behind this but whats next, deer scents that don't really attract deer? soaps that don't eliminate your scent? deer can see your orange? calls are on the wrong tune? and on and on

we all know or should know NOTHING is 100%. if you believe that you probably shouldn't be hunting. that's great that we shouldn't be false advertising but come on I'm sick of lawyers making life so TECHNICAL.

Since claims in dvertisng are way out of hand (read that misleading and lies), this suit was about whether or not advertisers can make outrageous claims (that consumers believe because it is in magazines and on TV) about their products.

This court said no - they cannot make unsubstantiated claims; or lie or mislead consumers in their advetising.

In fact, the FTC has come out with a whole new set of rules about the endorsements of high profile personalities. They now have to disclose whether or not they got paid or not, or actually use the product or not. Now they may have to state whether or not they actually believe what they or the manufacturer claims anout the product.

This is good for consumers (hunters).

you know i use and hunt with scent-lok quite litterally head to toe in its gear and i couldnt be happyer with it and wont be asking for my money back, do i believe it works 100% of course not, its just this country is so sue happy its unbelievable, theres worse things in this country than ppl who feel taken advantage of because they were stupid enough to believe that they can sit there in the product and crap there pants and think the deer wont be able to smell them.(just a example) i like the color the durability its comfortable and warm without having to bulk up. and its snug fitting for bowhunters so the string wont hit the sleeve when shooting

False advertisement is just that its a false. It is  also illegal so I am glad they lost. maybe it was petty but none the less illegal.

Soem people confuse the quality of their clothingf with Scent Lok...  Scent Lok only makes the activated carbon fabric, they do not sew it, they do no design the clothing or sew it, or design the camouflage - only the liner. Give credit where credit is due.

the liner is crap. And it adds about $100 to your cost, why use it if you dont need it?

but it wears the scent-lok name so its part of scent-lok(except the camo patterns) the liner isnt crap, ive seen it work first hand.

I use it also and I agree it isn't 100% oderless but I think it helps. I've put it on and had deer 4 feet looking up my lader and not get spooked. But, I also spray down with oder elimanator. Now they should bring the oder elimanator spray to court and the soap and the mouth wash and the chap stick and all the scents out there because someone didn't get there deer like the product says it will.

I think the difference between other products is they did not say 100% odor elimination.

I really don't see what the big deal is.  I personally don't use it, yet you as a consumer have other options in hunting gear.  And you are taking a chance on ANY product you buy whether it be boots, pants, gloves, scent eliminating/reducing gear, etc.  If you aren't happy with the product or any product for that matter, return it.

I don't know enough about Scent-Lok or its line of products, but to each his own.  If you believe in and it works for you, great purchase.  If it doesn't work or doesn't perform the way to like, return it and find something different.

It's my hope that whether you use it and like it OR if you are unhappy, let's not start stabbing at each other over something minor like this.  It's only clothing.  It's your money.

It's clothing that you have an option to buy or leave it on the rack.... 

Look, I'm sure it helps and you can add all the scent eliminating/decreasing/minimizing (did I get them all?) sprays, soaps, deodorant, clothes, gum, blah, blah, blah.  We can go on about this for weeks and get no where.

Have a good stand set up, watch the wind, minimize disturbing the deer when moving to and fro and a bit of luck and maybe you won't get busted. And maybe you do, but that's hunting.

On the flip side, look at the hunters who go to the tavern in their hunting gear or smoke while hunting and they still shoot deer.  Maybe I need to add scent instead of decrease it??????

well bow hunting you have to alot closer to the animal, so you have to be more aware of what your doing then going out with a 30-06 and shooting them at 150+ yards.

does it matter if it was 100% as soon as you step on the rug or sit in your vehicle those scent particles are on the suit now. so how can you prove that the suit isn't 100% and the scents aren't coming from other sources like truck seats. that is why you are best to use the wind rather than sprays and clothes. many people have shot trophy bucks while smoking a cigarette i know someone who has shot them 10 min after having a "emergency ejection" :" the best way it to spend time in the woods and some skill and luck.

I just designed some tires that I'm advertising that will go for 200,000 miles, you will never lose traction on the ice, and never get stuck in the mud. I'm going to charge double what normal tires cost and make millions off of you all.  I hope when it's proven the tires only get 20,000 miles and can't even get you out of your driveway all of you who have bought them will stand behind me.  

But the tire will really have a nice tread pattern.

P.S. They are for any one who wants to give me the money for them and then continue to back up the tires after they are proven to not do what I say they will do.  Especially for those who may even buy a second set instead of swallowing their pride.  I'll also throw in white lettering the never gets dirty for free.
