Red River State Recreation Area begins construction on 15 new full-service electric campsites
(Released June 17, 2010)


Fifteen new full-service electric campsites are being added to the Red River State Recreation Area in East Grand Forks. Construction is set to begin about June 15. The new sites are scheduled to be completed by mid-August.

With the addition of the new campsites, the campground will offer 85 electric sites, 24
nonelectric sites and four hike-in sites. A new playground for the campground is also in the planning stages, as is a new kiosk explaining the flood of 1997 and its impact on the city of East Grand Forks.

The construction contract was awarded to RJ Zavoral and Sons earlier in June.
