Walleye fishing in the Ely area has been slow on most lakes.  The water has warmed up, and surface temps from 73-80 degrees are common.
The thermocline on larger lakes such as Burntside and Snowbank is at about 24-25 feet, with temperatures on the reefs 70-73 degrees in 16 FOW.
Bass fishing is very good on both of these lakes, but Trout fishing is slow with few being taken in 60+ FOW. Northern Pike are active in 14-18 FOW.
The White Iron Chain has been producing some walleyes in 17 FOW during the day, 10 FOW in the evenings.  Crappies, Largemouth, Northerns, and Sunfish are being taken on edges of weed beds.
Shagawa Lake is producing Bass and Pike, Walleye is sporadic.
