Rockman’s Report

8/30/10

I have been out of commission for a while.
It was 4 weeks ago today, that I had my 2nd ankle fusion of the year and I have to say that everything seems to be going so far so good and the major pain is starting to level out and the entire foot is starting to settle down. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow to get some x rays of the foot and ankle and see what kind of progress we have in the fusion of the bone. My sleep pattern has started to turn around for the better too. For the past 3 1/2 weeks I had been getting only 2 to 4 hrs a day of broken sleep and it was really starting to wear on me. I felt like I was starting to experience the movie, Ground Hogs Day, you know, the one were Bill Murray wakes up to his alarm clock every morning and experiences the same day over and over again? Well that’s the way it had been around here. The only difference is I am not getting much sleep before the alarm clock in my head goes off. Patty is taking it all in stride as usual and is starting to feel better too just seeing the change in me.

It has been a long and hard road for her to have to watch the man she loves have to go through so much pain for so many months and then to have the first time around go badly for me. Then to have to watch me go through it a second time, has got to be very hard to watch. I can only imagine how I would feel for her if the shoe was on the other foot and I was taking care of her through all of this. Wow, I don’t even want to think about that, but I am very happy to say that things are staring to turn around and get much better on all fronts for both of us. We have a very positive outlook on things again and that I do have a future that doesn’t have to be full of pain. I am actually really looking forward to getting this foot healed up and getting back in the boat and get out and do some Fall cranking during the full moon in October.

I love getting together with all of my trolling buddies and having every one together all lit up and pounding on the walleyes, and feeling that rush that comes with getting wacked by a big fish, at night, just you and him doing battle under the light of the full moon. Oh my goodness, I better stop talking about it, I started to get all worked up, if you know what I mean. I know that there are a lot of you that are hoping and praying along with me for that to happen, so thank you for that. I think I will be good to go by the 23rd of October. At the very least I should be able to get out for a couple of hours each night to wack a few. I will take whatever the good lord gives me, that is for sure.

The fishing has still been good at night out on the humps and the Musky bite is starting to heat up on Andersons Reef and Rocky Reef. The SmallMouth Bass are also on fire out on the same reefs and also out on Indian Point. Well the long Labor Day weekend is just a few days away and the summer will be behind us. Where did it go? I know where mine went, right down the crapper, but we are looking forward to better days ahead and to have a better year next year.

Be safe

We will see ya

When we see ya
