I used the Spitfire Maxx by NAP last year.  I didn't have to do any adjustments when I switched from field points and they worked really well.

Take a look at Rocket Broadheads. This year I am shooting the Steelhead XL. Have heard a lot of good about these.

only thing you have to look at for on the rage is that they open up in your quiver sometimes..i heard they made a new quiver to prevent just that, i like fixed so im kind of biased on this topic, i did try rage for one year and physically seen th head freeze closed and i couldnt get it to open for the life of me(it was very cold and sleeting out) but it scared me enough to make the switch back to fixed blades and not look back.

Cody, what the heck are you doing out in the sleet?  Your broad heads wouldn't freeze if you were sitting inside watching a nice fire.  My son bought some Grim Reapors this year.  I'm still using fixed blades.

(it was very cold and sleeting out)

I'll bet the freezing water falling from the sky had something to do with the mechanical blades remaining shut.

If it was that bad, any other metal equipment you had with you would have been covered in ice as well.  I'm not 100% sure, but it's probably unsafe to bowhunt in a tree in that kind of weather.  I'm newer to this though, so I could be wrong.

well that was the only thing that froze, but if i had not checked it out and shot a deer with it then it wouldnt of opened and bad things can follow. as for hunting in that weather, i said before i hunt in any weather and about the safety of it, thought thats why i wear a safety vest, from the moment i leave the ground that vest is on and attached to the tree...but thats  :offtopic: i was only giving out my opinion :surrender:

Why were you trying to get the head open? I'm sure if you shot a target or deer it would have opened.

Fixed blade is Muzzys and mechanical are the Grim Reapers razor cut.  My first option is Grim Reapers.

I bought a set of Switchblades... we'll see how those work... reviews say people either love 'em or hate 'em nothing in between... but after looking at several other brands the responses are all like that... love em or hate em :archery:

Dunno....I tried several expandables, and always went back to fixed. Had a few pop on me and some not even open up on impact.

I am confident with the fixed, and shot placement is always been consistant. So, as long as I'm whacking and stacking....I think I'll never go back.  :green archer:

I used to shoot muzzy 3 blades. I switched over to rage 2 blade mechanicals this year. They fly identical to a field tip with my setup. So long as I don't have any issues with the mechanics of them I will keep using them.

Rage for me, they fly straight...I know they fly straight so im confident in them.  Never had much luck staying consistant with fixed blades even at 20 yards, do different kinds make a differance?

If you are talking fixed blades, I have seen a difference while i was searching for the ones I wanted to use, I tried crimson talon, montec and thunderhead.  The Crimsons flew low and right, the thunderheads flew a little low, but mostly on target and the montecs were all over for me (might have just had a faulty batch or something was up)  So i have shooting fixed thunderheads, compared to the field points, the go about 4-6 inches low at 30 yards, but I wouldnt like to take that long of shot, only 2 inches low at 20 and I moved the pin down for that.
Never tried expandables, I have heard that they will randomly open in the quiver, or not expand on contact.... stuff like that, but they also fly more true to the field point..... so thats a plus.
Im sticking with fixed blades for now.  My friend uses the Blood Runners and loves them - they are like quazi expandable.

I use thunderheads and noticed the same thing mtcommer saw.  For me, they fly just as he stated.  I set my sights to be right on with the broadhead.  When I practice I look for groups with field points and then shoot one broadhead at the end and bingo it's right on target.
