Construction begins at Plantagenet public water access on Oct. 2
(Released September 30, 2010)

The Plantagenet public water access site will be closed for improvements from Oct. 2 to Oct. 20, according to the Division of Parks and Trails at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This site is located on the far southeast shore of Plantagenet Lake off County Road 9 in Hubbard County.

The project will include replacing the single ramp, installing a new storm water retention pond, improving drainage, and constructing an expanded, paved parking lot with better accessible parking.

“This facility is the primary access site to Plantagenet Lake for both summer and winter fishing,” said Dave Schotzko, area supervisor for the Divisions of Parks and Trails. “The new upgrades will improve and expand the parking to ensure that it will continue to provide excellent public access for many years to come.”

While construction is underway at the DNR’s public water access on the southeast shore, boaters may use the township-owned access, which has an earthen surface, on the northeast shore of the lake, off County Road 35.

For more information, call the DNR’s Bemidji office at 218-308-2372, or call the DNR Information Center at 651-296-6157 or toll-free number, 888-646-6367 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
