Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are underwater cameras allowed?
    Yes.

2. Can I use a sonar, such as a Marcum or Vexilar?
    Yes.

3. Can you use a shelter?
    No shelters or windbreaks of any kind can be used.  You must be in view from all sides during the contest.

4. What time does the contest end?
    At 3:00pm a canon will go off ending the contest. You must be in line by 3:00pm to register a fish. Remember- Fish must be brought to the weigh-in tent immediately when caught and alive. Dead or frozen fish will be ineligible. There will be tournament bags available to help keep your fish alive at the weigh-in area and through out the contest area.

5. Can I use Reel Weeds?
    Maybe.  Holes are all pre-drilled and augers are not allowed.  Holes are spaced 15 feet apart.  If you can figure out a way to use them in the hole your fishing in, then yes, you can use weeds.

7. Is there stuff to do before the contest?
    Yes. Starting at 9am you can roam around and survey the area, visit our sponsors booths, see product demonstrations, grab a bite to eat or drink.

8. Do you have bait on the ice?
    No. You must bring your own bait. If you stop at Mike's Bait on 8 and purchase bait on the day of the contest, your name will be entered for a chance to win 1 of 5 $100 cash prizes.

9. Can I fish 2 holes?
    Yes. You need to purchase a ticket for each hole. 1 line per hole, 2 holes max. Both tickets must be in view.

10. Is there going to be beer for sale?
     Yes. We ask that you purchase your beer at the event. The Forest Lake VFW will be selling beer at the event for a reasonable price and the money made will help vets in need.  Plus you won't even have to leave your hole! There will be people pulling beer sleds around.

11. Can I bring my own beer, food or pop?
      Yes.  We ask that you patronize our vendors.  This is a huge fundraiser for groups such as the Forest Lake VFW and the Lions, so we ask that you try and patronize these organizations.

13. Can I buy my Fishapalooza event tickets the day of the event?
       Yes. Tickets will be available on the ice, but be sure to get there early.  The lines can be quite long. Buy your tickets online or at one of the local retailers early and avoid the lines at the lake.

14. I got my ticket ahead of time online. When I get to the lake on the day of the event, do I need to check in?
     Yes. Everyone needs to stop at the check-in station to receive a participant tag and go through security. Check-in will be located on the west side of the contest area.

15.  Where are "Will Call" tickets?
       The Will Call is located next to the ticket sales tent on the west side of the contest area.

16. Are ticket available the day of the contest?
      Yes.  Tickets can be purchase at Mike's Bait on 8, Forest Lake Gander Mountain, Forest Lake VFW, Frankie's Bait and Friar Tucks on and before the day of the contest. Tickets will also be available on the ice at the ticket sales tent on the west side of the contest area.

17. Can I use a tip-up?
      Yes

18. Where can I park?
      We have a parking area 1/4 mile west of Hwy 61 on Hwy 97 just south of Forest Lake. There is also parking at the Forest Lake Gander Mountain.

      There will be no parking on the ice by Sheriff's order.
