Another great week of fishing has come and gone here on Lake of the Woods. We’re still picking away at those suspended Walleyes out in 33-36 feet of water. Don’t forget your flasher! The quality of fish continues to be a treat. It’s still more Walleye than Sauger, with some Tullibee hanging around too. The Walleye are mostly perfect eater sized fish with a fair amount of slot fish in the 20-26 inch range showing up. We’re also fishing up between Knight and Bridges with our bombers. It’s a numbers game up there right now. We are seeing lots of Saugers still, and some Walleye mixed in, along with an occasional 11-14 inch Perch. We haven’t seen any good numbers of Perch, just one here and there.

Our guides have been hard at work on the plowed road the past few days. With so much snowfall this winter, it was time to move some of the road onto new ice. We’re working on widening out some of the narrow spots too and spreading out the snow weight more evenly on the ice. The snow banks on the road were getting deep and that puts a lot of extra weight/pressure on the ice. It is still in good condition for driving, and will be even better the next few days. It wouldn't bother us if it didn't snow anymore though! The road services our houses out on the mud flats. It’s about 11 miles out from the lodge right now and ends in 35-36 feet of water.

It was nice to get good weather on a weekend again! It looks like it’s going to cool down significantly the next few days here. The weatherman is calling for highs between zero and the low teens for the week. Warmer weather is suppose to arrive just in time for the weekend with predicted highs in the mid to upper twenties again.

Fish ON!
