Sturgeon season enters last weekend

For Wisconsinoutdoorfun.com • February 26, 2011

Nineteen sturgeon were speared Friday on Lake Winnebago, as the 16-day season winds down toward its conclusion at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

The only 100-pound fish taken Friday was a 100.1-pound, 67.1-inch female registered at Paynes Point south of Neenah by Kane Olson of Neenah, according to the state Department of Natural Resources.

That raised the season total to 1,376 sturgeon, including 1,043 on Lake Winnebago. The other 333 fish were speared on the upriver lakes of Butte des Morts, Poygan and Winneconne, where the season was closed earlier this week.
Take a kid hunting and fishing... It'll be the best thing for generations to come.
