It may not feel like it yet, but March is here. The ten day forecast shows that we are going to finally warm up. It looks like upper 20’s and maybe even some 30’s for the rest of the week.

Fishing wise we are fishing two different locations. We’re 4 miles out from the resort off of Pine Island. Our plowed road accesses these houses and is in great shape still. We’re currently fishing in 28’ on the sand/mud. Our sleepers are also in the same area, but in a little shallower to provide a better early morning and late evening bite. It’s been a mix of Walleye and Sauger with an occasional big Walleye showing up. We should see more walleye moving into the area as the weather begins to warm up and the fish begin to migrate towards the Rainy River.

We’re also still fishing between Knight and Bridges Island about 18 miles north on the lake. It about an hour bomber ride up there when the trail is in good condition. We’re on some rock/ruble structure. The fish are still most active during the day in the deeper water, so most of our houses are set in 31’. The action has been good up there with more Sauger than Walleye.

Pike fishing is still spotty. One group had a 41” today. For Walleye fishing glow pink/red and gold have been good colors. One group had the best luck on white today.

Fish ON!

Thanks for the report!!   A group of us is heading up there tomorrow morning.  A couple other friends were up last weekend and it sounded like they did really good out by Garden Island also.   Hopefully we can get out there on 4-wheelers.  We will see.
