Another week of hard water fishing has gone by here on Lake of the Woods. Most of the week brought some consistent weather and good fishing. A small front moved through early Saturday morning and brought some snow, plenty of wind and high pressure which made for some tougher fishing yesterday. It’s been a relatively cold March so far, but it looks like we will be warming up soon. Temperatures are expected to reach 30 today and then climb into the upper 30s and maybe even low 40s the next few days.

We are still fishing a couple different areas. We’re about 20 miles up on the lake in one area and the fish we are targeting are holding deep in 31-32’ over some small rock/rubble. It’s been good numbers of Saugers with some Walleye mixed in. We’re also just a few miles out off of Pine Island. There haven’t been as many fish, but some nicer Walleyes are being caught. Our sleepers are also just off of Pine Island. With the season winding down we plan to take a couple sleepers off the ice this week as they are the heaviest and most difficult to move.

Our plowed road is still in good shape as of today. The lake is holding 30-40 inches of ice with about a foot of hard packed snow on top protecting the ice yet. We only have a couple weeks of fishing left in March, and it should be a great stretch. We have mid-week space available through the month and weekend space left the weekend of the 25th.

Fish ON!
