Out on the ice - Fishing in the Ely area
Trout action remains good on lakes such as High, Dry, Tofte and Miners lakes. Best fishing has been at daylight, and right before sundown. Try small jigs with waxworms or small panfish worms.

Lake trout fishing has been slow on Burntside and Snowbank, but those folks putting in the time are still catching a few. The trout will begin moving into the shallower water soon and be easier to target on deep drops near the shorelines. Ciscoes fished right on bottom or larger minnows suspended are working on dead sticks, but most fish are being caught while jigging Airplane Jigs, Chubby Darters and Bionic Bucktails. For best results tip your jigging rig with a minnow or minnow head to appeal to their sense of smell and taste.

Crappie fishing is gradually getting better. Try Fall, Farm, East Twin and Low Lakes. Best bet are small minnows or waxworm tipped jigs. When jigging, tease them up a bit to trigger the bite.

Stop in at Greatoutdoors for all of your bait and tackle needs and up to date reports on lake conditions and where to catch em'. And remember. Greatoutdoors is "the best bait shop in Ely".
