10/7 Afternoon Trip Report Lake Geneva

Saturday 10/7 Afternoon Trip Report: 12:15 pm to 4:15 pm
When arriving at the dock at 12:00 pm, an hour earlier than scheduled with the groom and his dad they raced to the car for a fast exit so they could slide into their tuxes at home.

My 1:15 pm folks were already waiting for me an hour early so It worked out great. We loaded up Dave Lynch and his 7 yr old son J.D. and a hunting we did go. I was concerned about J.D. being only 7 yrs. old, but my worries were soon forgotten as J.D. managed to catch the first 2 smallies. Today was a great day with the action being good. We had to be patient with some 20 min lulls between fish, but the bass were schooling. Things went flat when the boat traffic started to get heavy as they continued to go right through the groups of anglers.

We decided to troll for some pike before wrapping it up for the day. It was a good move with Dave hammering a nice 28 incher that gave him a cool jump on the way in. He still didn't manage to beat his sons 31 incher caught while smallie fishing . I was surprised at the amount of boat traffic in the afternoon although I'm usually off the lake by 12:00 pm on the weekends.

Overall it was a pleasant day on the lake with fall colors starting to peak. Having a chance to fish with some new clients is always an interesting adventure, but it doesn't take long for everyone to settle in. Not to many more days left with the warmer air temps although the water temps have been hanging on around 60 degrees.

Great report Lee. How is the crappie fishing on Geneva?

Actually I don't target crappies since most of my clients are in the hunt for gamefish. Geneva has some good crappies if you have the patients to keep searchin for um.

Your right about the kids being so proud of their catches. I promised 7 yr old JD. a fishing patch at the end of the day for his nice catches he made and forgot to give it to him.

I called his dad to tell him It was in the mail.  His dad said that on the way home from the lake JD told him "Lee forgot to give me that fishing patch" Dad also told me that JD brought all his fish pictures to school for show and tell the next day 8)
