DNR invites comment on lake vegetative management plan for Bay Lake and Lower Mission Lake
(Released April 20, 2011)

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invites public comment on the lake vegetative management plans for Bay Lake and Lower Mission Lake in Crow Wing County.

The plans, prepared by DNR fisheries staff, are designed to direct aquatic plant management activities necessary for recreational use, for water quality, and for habitat improvement.

Lake vegetation management plans describe aquatic plant conditions. The plans identify specific management activities planned for the lakes in the next five years. Those activities include invasive species management, shoreline owner aquatic plant management, lake-wide aquatic plant management, and measures to help reduce nutrient inputs.

Copies of the draft plans and comment forms are available at the DNR Brainerd Fisheries Aquatic Plant Management Office, 1601 Minnesota Drive, Brainerd, MN 56401, or by calling 218-828-2735.  Comments will be accepted until May 3, 2011.
