Bridge work requires temporary closure of Willard Munger State Trail in Duluth area, starting Monday, May 2
(Released April 28, 2011)

The Willard Munger State Trail will be closed between Riverside Drive and 95th Avenue in the Duluth area starting Monday, May 2, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

The closure will be in effect for about two months while the bridges at Grand Avenue and 93rd Avenue undergo major rehabilitation.

The trail also may be closed periodically between 75th Avenue and Riverside Drive during daylight hours, for fence installation. This follows the widening and repaving of 1.6 miles of the trail in this neighborhood last fall.

There are no safe ways around this construction, and the DNR is unable to designate a detour route. The DNR apologizes for any inconveniences and reminds trail users to be careful when they encounter the closed sections of the trail.

For updates on the closures and more information about the Willard Munger State Trail, call the DNR Information Center, 651-296-6157 or toll-free 888-646-6367 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or DNR website.
