Thanx for the headsup Bob,yeah Steve F is at the fore front on this issue, fact is this issue just isn't about commercial netting of mille laces, although it touches a nerve to all of us that care about the lake and the future of it after watching the fall of others in our lifetime, but this is a national issue, its about equal rights and we should all abide by the same regulations and rules regardless of race or religion, and now is the time to get this issue back on the table in federal court and revisited,200 years later, time for a change and Steve has started with baby steps and is heading to the appeals court in St Paul for the 2nd phase of the plan,he can use our help with a small donation to the trust to retain his att'y to fight this in court,he's the one that stuck his neck out and is willing to represent all of us non-natives,all we need to do is give him our support is any amount, understand this fight isn't against our native people here even tho some here thow out the race card and fail to see the whole picture as to what is happening to our communities throughout central Mn with mille laces taking the biggest hit, both the natual resource and the community around the lake, just take a drive around the lake and see for yourself.

Members here with family that love to fish take notice, its mille laces now but just wait, the natives want more, last year when they protested on lake bemidji Dennis Means spouted off to the tune of 40 million or they plan to exercise their "so-called" off reservation treaty rights state wide/nation wide at the same time collecting money from us tax payers.

This is a quote from Steve about funds raised and what still has to be done.

Ya know, I did know the costs before I initiated this action. What I didn't know was that people who are against the netting and are pro equal rights would not throw a $20 bill at this without being pushed to do so. All I heard for months(even years) before I did this, was " let me know how I can help!" "Let me know when you need money...."

My confidence in getting 1000 people or more to put $20 into this was high, based on sites like this and others. We just broke the 100 donators mark this week.

So--I brought the action and after the fact, found out fund-raising is my biggest task. If I would have known I had such little $$ support behind me, I would not have taken this on without the $$ upfront.

FYI--we put over 5K into this before the "fundraising" even started. That being on everyone's behalf.

I'm embarrassed to see the lack of financial support so far from MNO members. I realize that times are tuff, but not being able send a contribution of some sort is not believable for me. If a fellow sportsman like Steve Fellegy is willing to go out on a limb for the benefit of others he needs our help. In my opinion those that don't try to help out are either against this cause or just a dam cheapskate and should be ashamed.  Which side of the fence do you that have NOT donated fall on?

My check for $40.00 will be in the mail in the morning!

Good Job Lee and Dan, I also see it odd that not many have sent anything from this site or the other sites with all the members on these sites it should of been easy to raise the funds.

Dont get me wrong some members have sent money from the sites but for all the members its small.

If you dont believe in the case fine but if you are with Steve just $5.00 dollars would help times are tuff but a five dollar bill wont kill you.  :USA:

Also Thanks to those who sent money

im sorry to be the thorn in peoples side, but you should be ashamed of youselves for trying to guilt people into donating! do you know the unemployed rate in this state right now? times are tough on alot of people, and yes 5 dollars doesnt sound like alot but maybe someone needs that extra gallon and a half of gas to get to work instead. just because people arent donating doesnt mean there not with the cause, if they are with the cause and arent donating it would be better to not assume that they are being cheap but better to assume that they havent donated BECAUSE THEY CANT AFFORD TO!!!!!!!  im sorry but this is the type of thing that really gets my blood boiling and makes me  :puke:

The goal here is not to offend those that feel they can't donate $5.00. The goal is to stimulate those that can afford to donate and believe it or not or like it or not it works.  The intent was not to upset those who can't donate. Unfortunately some folks interrupt things differently than they were intended to be understood.

End of discussion. The goal here is not to start a debate. :offtopic:

Well said Lee,point taken,I look at this way,one less meal out a month or have a hamburger rather than a steak one night a week,I can't sit and cross my figures hoping this tradgedy will end on mille laces on its own let alone whats happening nation wide,I'm old enough to see the fall of URL and the damage done in wisc in the ceded territory there not to mention the lakes in northwest canada by commercial netting.

If this isn't brought back to the table the indian industry will keep pushing and asking for more and more~We have an opprotunity to cap this issue right before us folks, think about it real hard, think about the future if you have kids, whats next remeber here in minnesota they have 12 counties, now they think they have off reservation treaty rights,in case you have'nt herd since the netting protest on cedar lake in mpls this spring which did'nt amount to anything, they now plan a hunt in Fort Snelling state park come september,"whats next?" enough is enough.

im not trying to start a debate i was only stating my opinion. im not the only one that seen it that way so its obvious the way it was meant, especially when you say we should be ashamed of ourselves. i agree with snow on just about everything. if people could give dont you think they would. And i agree that we all should have the same rules but its past the state of mn goverment, it has to be the president that signs off to remove the treaty. off topic if they want to try and hunt a military base i say let the military deal with that
