    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
The fishing is still going full bore for walleye northern pike and smallmouth bass all up and down Oahe. There are still a lot of walleye shallow but the avg. depth most fish are being caught is probably 14 to 20 feet now. I am still catching most of my limits in 10 ft. or less but I am going out to 14 ft. more often. The lake is as healthy as I can remember. Oahe has had great spawns for the last five years and you can tell it by all the different year class fish that you catch. Lake has 4 inch, 9 inch, 14 inch,17 inch and lots of bigger year class fish all over. We are also full of 3 to 4 lb. Northern so baring any unforeseen troubles get ready for great fishing for years to come. Fished Dan Nielsen, Paul Stranghoener and Sam Cornstube to a great batch of fish catching at least 50 walleye a day along with northern and some bass. At one point they were throwing 23 inch walleye back because they had already caught and kept all of there over 20's. Biggest a 25 incher. Way more big fish showing up now and once again with the high water I think July and August will be our best months again this year. Great weather and great numbers of all size fish. Also fished a nice family reunion group out of Spring Creek Marina to limits of all the above. I am fishing shallow with spinner/crawler rigs and fishing bouncer/plain hook/ crawlers deep but leeches are great and a variety of plugs catching a lot of fish.
