For those wondering what a Slammer rod is, its a board about 40 in. long with a fishing rod mounted on one end with the rod tip bent down and held in place so when a fish strikes it, it immediately sets the hook.
In the 06 fishing regulations on pg. 10 spring devices are unlawful. So does a slammer rod fall under this regulation?
This question came up at the Weebot Fest. after talking with Andy Thompson the Large Lake Specialist for the MN DNR. At that time he thought they were unlawful but wasn`t completely sure.
I just got off the phone with our C.O. and he said that it would indeed be unlawful, but said there are some rules that are left up to the C.O. `s discretion.
I guess my slammer will get thrown in the corner, better to be safe than sorry.

Yea, the C.O.`s discretion on a rule like that would most certainly cost me some cash.
