I had an interesting and unusual weekend muzzy hunting.  I enjoy the muzzleloader season because there are less hunters. Usually there is some snow for scouting and tracking.  The deer have not been pressured for a week and might get careless and start moving around more during the light.

Here is the interesting part of the weekend.  Friday night at 11:30 pm someone down the road opens up and fires about 8- 10 mortar style fireworks.  By the time I get out of bed to look outside they were done.  (Just kids back from the bar I thought).

Saturday raining most of the day .  I went out when the rain stopped.  4pm someone fires off a clip 7-9 rounds and stops.

Sunday 7am it sounds like someone playing kettle drums.  It's breezy so I can't tell what it is.    Sunday 3:30 pm the wind had almost stopped completely.  The banging starts again.  It is clear someone is banging pots or pans together.   :doah:

Apparently someone on our road has put themselves in charge of keeping the deer at high alert.  They are far enough down the road that the little burst are not directed at me.

Nothing much suprises me anymore but jeez!!

Are you hunting in a somewhat populated area?  I think you are right, someone is intending to frighten the deer, but why?  I would think scaring them away from your property would only cause them to go where they might get shot.
