Well it’s that time of year, the ice is in it’s making stage, early ice that means it’s time to get all your ice fishing equipment out and ready to go, start the ice auger up and go through all of the checklist, so to not to forget something and to make sure you have your safety equipment early ice with no snow some kind of boot spike also a couple spikes in case you fall in, A couple of metal spikes with the role attached to one another,
Here’s a photo of my portable, I think I bought this back in 19 94 it’s a six by six fair ball fish house, it’s 17 years old canvas now we all know mice love canvas, I have no holes in my portable, due to the fact that I hang on the wall I open it every year, here’s two tips that I find to keep the portable fish house in well cap shape,

The first tip is to get some hard wax at the beginning of the year run the wax up and down the zippers both inside and out this will keep moisture, water from freezing on your zippers will make for smoother zipping the doors open and close, as photo shows

The second tip has to do with the zippers win they do not sealing take a Needle nose pliers and squeeze the back of the zipper just a little this will seal the two sides better win zipping open and close, as photo shows,

Well as you seeing I’ve got my equipment ready to go, heading out tomorrow to do a little Ice walking and  :fishing2: ,

I use a hard block wax, That one would use for skid, But a candle wax would do, As water will not freeze to it,
