had my first outing for spearing pike this morning, had a late start and still faired well! not knowing if the house was still in the same shape that i had left it in on friday after i and my son got it all set for today! last years story was not good! anyways put the minnows to work at 9:30 and worked the ole r&w decoy, witch brought in the perch. after an hour passed a nice 4.5 lb norton came in and stoped dead to look! well the end of that rush  :P :P . nothing more till i pored a cup of coffee and would,nt you no it ,the hands are full and what comes in under my feet? you guessed it a gator of 10 lbs  and no spear in hand , but with luck on my side i did not spill my coffee when i set it down . picked up the pike fork and let it have it right behind the gills  as it took the minnow . not as big as i thought only 8 1/2 lbs but still a beauty. so after settling down and finshing my drink  at 12:15 another slimer hit the same minnow for the third time, and boy this aint looking good ! my minnow was looking real raged by now  but as luck will have it again the pike hung on until i took it,s picture with the ole 7 tine  camera . 4 lbs and after this i was done for my 1st outing and happy to boot ! fore any outing in mother natures wonder  is a real joy weather you fill a limit or just fill you memories with a great day of fishing in a place you can call home! THANKS FOR READING  MY STORY! ;D  :)

You fared better than I did. Went to a new lake to try it out,got one decent one. Only one I seen.

For the evening I opted to try catching some eyes with a buddy. He said he wanted to swing by his spear shack and just check it out. It was down on the same lake as I took DaveO, there sat someone in his house using his spear and chair. The propane tank and heater they had pulled out of my house brought it over to his house so they could stay warm. They had one northern 32" and a couple bout 25-26 inches and they were still spearing.

This lake is privately owned and I could see no truck or anything. When I asked them how they got there they said someone had dropped them off and went to town. Well to shorten this up I ended up throwing them off the property as they went down through our families land. They said that there ride wasn't going to be there til dark. That's when I informed them it's going to be a long walk then. Anyway my uncle who actually owns the place happened by about then and told me to go fishing while he took care of the riff raff.

Well they mentioned their equipment being too heavy to carry. So I told them most of it wasn't thiers anyhow, but then mentioned what was theirs they could leave as rent. Anyway just let my uncle take over. He isn't as polite as I am and he's got 120lbs over me to boot too.

Other things that happened today, I did manage a few eyes this evening and this AM had my lic checked by the CO. That kinda surprised me as the public access is overgrown with brush and half a mile long. I went there as I figure no one has fished it in yrs and a good chance at good fish. The CO must Wanted to find out who was out there just as bad as I wanted to get after some fish.
