                 Don't feed the wild turkeys in Clear Lake 
 

 

  ......CLEAR LAKE, Iowa
 State environmental officials are asking people not to feed a roving flock of wild turkeys in Clear Lake because they could get used to handouts.
The Globe Gazette in Mason City says the dozen or so turkeys have been spotted in various spots around town recently.

  The Department of Natural Resources asks residents not to feed them. Wildlife biologist Greg Hanson says males in the springtime get aggressive, and will threaten people while protecting the hens.

Hanson says turkeys should not be allowed to get used to humans. He says residents who find the turkeys on their property should chase them away.

Not trying to be confrontational here but for you to pull the race card here is unacceptable. Have you ever met Greg Hanson? There's not a raciest bone in his body. As you can see from his photo below he is 1/2 man & 1/2 turkey. Therefore hence the racial comment is out of line.

Also, he was just trying to warn others about the dangers of feeding wild turkeys. As you can see the wild male turkeys become very aggressive in the spring.

  ....Godzilla the wild turkey terrorizes Commerce Towns

 Edna Geisler 69, of Commerce Township gave the name Godzilla to the wild turkey that has been terrorizing her at her home for a month. Most days she can barely make it out to her car without the turkey attacking her.
