The last week of walleye fishing was a good one.  Numbers were there and plenty of big fish were released.  It appears that the 2011 year class is strong.  Lots of smaller fish are mixed in with the larger ones, so the future looks bright!  It should be a great opener this year.

The next 3 weeks are all about monster sturgeon.  The “keep” season begins on April 24th and runs through May 7th.  With the purchase of a $5 tag, anglers may keep one sturgeon between 45 and 50 inches.  Sturgeon are excellent smoked and there are no bones to deal with!  Catch and release has been going on for some time now and has been excellent.  Sturgeon lurk in the deeper waters in along the river channel.  We have midweek openings.  Come on up and give it a try!

Cold, snow and wind for Monday with warmer weather beginning on Tuesday.  There’s a chance for showers later in the week with highs in the mid to upper 40s.

FISH ON!
