Fishing reports in the Ely area on the opener were mixed.  On Saturday, those that fished in 20+ FOW reported mediocre luck, with most of the walleye in the small size.
Later Saturday evening, and Sunday, many had success in the 4-6 foot range, mostly in muddy flats.
Many of the fish taken were packed with Mayfly larvae (wonderful), but size remained less than 20," for the most part.
Water temps were in the upper 40's to low 50's, and are slowly beginning to warm up with most areas currently being in mid 50's.
