At first glance it looks like this plot is a bust.  I sprayed a couple times in July and then planted early August.  I don't think we had a drop of rain since so not too much germinated.  On the bright side, I did see 4 deer from here last evening.  I jumped one about 50 yards from the stand on the way in and at 7 pm a doe with two fawns came in.  She was on high alert and I don't know if she saw or winded me but would not come closer than 40 yards all the time giving that "something isn't right" look. 



Some chickory can be seen in the low cool spot.

She might be the same doe that had her fawn killed in that plot last year. She might remember and now always checks the tree first. I know a guy that had a dummy in has stand all year. Deer would always check to see if the stand was empty before going through a opening in the fence. The dummy trick worked.
Anything that is free is worth saving up for.
