                    Tribal harvest tops 50,000 pounds.

Officers from GLIFWC (Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission)  and the tribal DNRs reported slow takes in the tribal nets around Mille Lacs Lake heading into Easter weekend.

Lee this video shows how they avoid hitting the pike limit because once they did all netting stops. So they just kill them and throw them back in the lake.

Video of netted Muskies handled by their eyes when pulled out of the Net then tossed overboard to die. Wanton Waste and no Mn. DNR to watch this waste  :banghead:

Video of Natives leaving landings without a DNR officer or a Native CO to be seen... and our DNR expects us to believe they have only netted 50,000lbs?    I've fired off emails to the Attorney General, included the DNR, with video footage proving this...  along with video footage of them tossing dead musky & northern overboard to prevent from being counted against their quota...  Why the hell we arent suing our DNR for this is beyond me, people are suing them for not doing enough to prevent invasives, why the hell arent we for this.....

The last couple of weeks, I have noticed NO MN DNR at all anywhere near the netting.

Hate to accept this fact, but, we/myself are included in allowing this.... We can bitch in all the different forum sites until we turn blue, wont do a bit of good...  I've started to fire off several emails to the Attorney General, the DNR, the Governor, the Star Tribune- included the irrefutable video evidence we have of the laws being broken, demanding action be taken...   The good thing is the Attorney General has helped me with a few issues in the past, I'll definitely be hearing from her on these issues...   Will be at Steves hearing tomorrow, cant wait to hear everything!!

What a bunch of BS! Keep in mind guyz its all about weight of the harvest, they don't count or sex the fish.In this case do we really know what the current weight is for the 2012 harvest? I think not,at this rate more changes are on the horizon for non-natives on mille lacs, just wait and see folks.

I am teaching a hunter safety class right now, next week we have a CO coming in to talk with the class.
If I can get him or her to talk about the netting I might be able to get some insight as to why they are allowing the tribes to drive off with out a count.

Keep in mind though this will be a local cities CO so he or she may not know any thing about whats happining up there.

Benny we've made contact with district 10 CO's,infact one was a supervisor~I really think our folks have NO authority as it is federal,so now we'll see what the USFW service folks think about our video's,wanton waste and selling of walleye fillets. :banghead:

Here is one of his responses~

you can imagine, I am getting overloaded with video, photographs and endless complaints.  Some complaints are possibly legit but, unfortunately many are inaccurate or are hearsay from a friend of a friend.  I will continue to follow up and investigate what I can.  Much of this information/violations are enforced by the band or Tribal authority.  I will  also forward  case information to appropriate Tribal Enforcement.   I will try look through the video and get back to you.

Thanks,

Chad

I grew up a mile off of the SouthEast side of Mille Lacs. I witnessed first hand tribal groups land their boats at the access and load up pounds and pounds of fish and just drive away. No count being taken at all. I have also witnessed an elderly man accidentally spear a muskie during sucker spearing season in a murky creek. That man was handed a citation. I cannot stand watching nothing being done to protect Mille Lacs's Pride fish but at the same time put so much time and effort into small offenses. Just keep fighting it I guess. They say the squeeky wheel gets the grease.. :banghead:
