Last Friday I discovered that some poachers had entered my property, drove a section woods and shot a fawn.  Needless to say I was disappointed and saddened by their actions.  These poachers knew full well that what they were doing was illegal.  I can just see them sitting around the campfire with their kids and grand kids telling them the story of how they trespassed on some guy’s property, drove the woods and shot the fawn that came out.  Way to go guys, I hope you are proud.  The woods they drove was an area I use a deer sanctuary and we have not gone in there this year.

Really sucks when people do that.  Are they the neighbors that shoot every small buck because u don't?  Hope you catch the jerks.

Not good. Sorry to hear that. Any hard evidence that you could turn into the DNR?

Tracks don't lie.  I followed tire tracks to where they loaded the deer (about 100 yards from my camp).  Followed drag marks in the snow to where it was gutted.  The deer was so small it hardly left a mark in the snow where it was dragged.  The gut pile would fit in a small pail. I followed the tracks from where they entered the wood to where the stander (poacher) shot the fawn.

That sucks man. I cannot understand how anybody can possible even think about trespassing to shoot a deer. You would think that with over 3 million acres of public land to hunt they could have found a legal spot to hunt shoot a deer.

I hope you catch them.

I hope those &@$(@rds get what they deserve and choke on gristle. I wish the conservation officers had more time to spend on this type of violation other than measuring a stupid fish for being too long or too short. Or any other stupid unnecessary law that may be imposed. I stand with you Deadeye and you know what I am eluding to

The same thing happened to me this opener. A new group of individuals aquired a neighboring property. I heard a great amount of shooting For four days straight at first light. Then an unmistakable sound of a hard to close cabin door slam. I assumed they were hunting over bait as is the norm in that country. Sunday of opener A shot rang out that was so close It actually made me flinch in my climber. I gave it a couple hours and then went to investigate. To my surprise a portable was erected over 200 yards onto the private property that I have hunted for 35 years with Pee bottles and trash at the base. This spot he took was one that is I will also occasionally hunt. I followed blood to where he buried the gut pile with leaves. The heart and liver were that of a fawn. I got hold of Eric that I hunt with and drove the piece where the stand was mostly because I did not want any deer around this guy. I waited then on the path  he drug out the fawn until he came back for evening stand. I asked him when he finally appeared after taking up 4 hours of my deer hunt what he thought the ribbons on the property line meant . He then got mouthy and tried to pass me telling me this was public land he was on. After I asked if he had a tag for the fawn he took (lottery zone only) he suddenly got apologetic and removed his stand. You can never keep these people off but you can surely deter them.

People like that should have their hunting rights taken away, I have had so many problems that I have considered quitting hunting. Nothing worse than having the days you look forward to all year ruined by someone with no respect for other hunters.

Is the land posted real good? If he has to shoot a fawn he must be hard up.

There is no way they did not know my property off limits to public hunting.  They parked within 20 feet of a no hunting sign, waked past another and on top of that, they went across an ag field which by law does not have to be posted.

Did they also use one of your tree stands?  The one that is way way way up in the clouds.   If you want some back up when you go and have a chat with them. Let me know I will come with you as some muscle and back up :fudd:
