    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
I took Larry Jannsen from Nebraska and his two son in laws out fishing for two days spending 1 day on Oahe and one day on Sharpe. We put limits of fish in the boat both days with 24 fish on Oahe and 16 fish down at the bend on Sharpe. They had a real nice avg size of both bass and walleye the second day catching two proud angler bass and several over 20 inch fish but the general size on Oahe was small. We fished both lakes in 12 fow or less using crawler/bouncer rigs. Lake Oahe has a lot of boats out and due to the increased limits of 8 each be prepared to wait at fish cleaning stations as anglers are taking more time because they have more fish to clean. June has become a very busy month so in all likelihood you will have to spend a little time to find places to fish by yourself but it can be done. A GF&P's report says that 74% of the walleye in Oahe are the under 15 inch year class so it is no problem to get a bunch of eaters. Minnows still work as well as leech's but my preference is crawlers or gulp worms. Pulling plugs is going too.
