Summer patterns holding true as we head into August. Downrigging getting good reports 20-36 feet using blue/silver or orange/gold shad raps or wally divers. Many anglers still having success near Garden Island. There are still good reports of drifting with hammered gold spinner tipped with crawlers. Try Pine Island 12-25', out from Zippel Bay Gap in 35', or the west bar of Garden Island in 18-20 feet. Shallow rocks, reefs, and island points having good numbers.

On the Rainy River, use 1 oz jigs in 17-19' for walleyes. Good reports of eater fish. Smallmouth bass on boulders and current seams. Sturgeon still active, fish in deep pockets.

Up at the NW Angle, fishing continues to be good in 18-24 feet near Four Blocks, Crow Duck and Little Oak. Drifting with spinners the go to method tipped with crawler or shiner. Muskie hunters still finding good action in Ontario waters over weed beds.  Info on lodging, guides and more at www.LakeoftheWoodsMN.com
