Fishing STILL remains sporadic on most of the lakes because of the windy and rainy weather that seems to be the norm this summer.
Walleyes can still be found in 6  fow, but have moved to deeper locations on or near reefs in water as deep as 26 feet.
Decent size bass have been taken on reefs on Basswood Lake, but only smaller ones with any consistency, on most others.
It appears that smallies did not spawn on many lakes because of the cooler water temps, and anglers are finding crappies that still have eggs in them for the same reason.
Another big storm with high winds and heavy rains just came through the area again last night, which will most likely add to the inconsistancy of fishing this summer.
Most are using leeches and crawlers on jigs or plain hooks to take fish.
