There is open water down here in Shakopee if you really miss it that much.  The river did not freeze at all this winter.

I'm thinking more like Mille Lacs.

I can't wait for Mille Lacs open water myself. I am supposed to be at the 494 ramp today at 4:00, but I'm afraid thats right when the storm is forcasted to hit the cities. I'll be keeping a close eye on the sky today.

I've been going to Mille Lacs for about 15 years now. Last year was a tough opener. We almost turned around and went home because of the wind. I hope it's a little nicer this year.

After any long winter and you get a few days of nice weather, everybody starts thinking of the open water season. Hopefully in the next week or so I will pull the boat out of hibernation and it will be that much closer.

We usually camp out at Father Hennepin State Park. We either pitch a tent or sleep in the back of our trucks.

When the weather gets a little nicer I'm thinking of taking the whole family a couple times this year for a combination camping/walleye fishing trip.

I am thinking more of Lake of the Woods.I have been thinking about open water since about mid february. I might even go up to red lake just to watch all the fights that will probably be going down cuz of all the people that will be fishing it.

Can we save this post somewhere?  I want to compare it with the first post that says, "Can't wait for the ice".
There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot

Sounds peaceful. I've always wanted to fish eyes that time of year, but I'm just chomping at the bit to get into the woods. I may have to set a weekend or two aside for the fall walleye action.
