Light Braided Or Mono?

Yesterday, I fished out in the open with just a bucket, fishing pole and auger. When I fish outside, I notice that mono doesn't loose it's memory and is a  to fish with. So, today I went to fleet farm and found some really light braided....I figured what the heck, I'll give it a try. It's 2 lb braided by sufix.

What do you guy's use? Has anybody else used this stuff for ice fishing?

I use braided on my tip-ups and during open water...just curious what your thoughts are.

Most of my perch rods are rigged with light braid like the suffix, then a tiny swivel and 20" of fluoro 4lb leader and a quick snap attachment on end.   How Jason Mitchell fishes and lots of nodaks.  No line twist and small jigs swim better.

Yup, I have always used a quick snap on the end, makes the jig run true with action and makes it a quick change to a different lure.

Forgot to mention the best leader for icefishing is seagur fly fishing leader.  Way better than just fluoro line.  U can get up to 12lb in small rolls at fly shops.

I use power pro.on some rods. But for me its a pain cause my fi gers.dont have the strength or dextarity they use to for a quick snap.And hate havei g to cut to rety

I fish with a lot of "noodle" poles with small eyelets. I don't think the swivel would fit through. I suppose I could use it that way and would have to remove it for storage.

I mainly use power pro o. LOW 30 Ft down with no stretch factor helps with hook sets

Yup, the braided does not work very well either for out in the open , hole hopping fishing. Kept icing up in the eyelets. Oh Well......

I was going to say.... braided line soaks up water and will freeze stiff, but I see you already figured that out.  I like to use flourocarbon line.  Doesn't have the spool memory of mono and has very little stretch so you may want a mono leader on it for bigger fish.  I saw Seagur line mentioned earlier.  I believe all they make is flourocarbon line and they make the best.  I use that in most of my rigs.  I like it a lot for ice fishing as it is much stronger than mono so you can get higher lb test line in smaller diameters (i.e. 6lb test FC the diameter of 2lb mono).

I know this is an ice fishing forum but on a side note as much as I like flourocarbon line I do not recommend it for crawler or leech (Lindy) rigs for summer fishing.  Mono works best for that.
