Anglers reporting a good mix of eaters and slot walleyes this week using a variety of methods. Anchoring and jigging is favored.  When it's windy, spinners are the go to method.  The mud flats outside of Pine were good in 15-22 feet. Pine Island to Zippel Bay had walleyes in 24-30. Long Point over to 12 Mile Reef had numbers in the 19-22 foot range. Those that headed north to the reefs got lucky in 16-21 feet. Hot colors were gold, chartreuse, or pink.

On the Rainy River, smallmouth bass and northern pike very active with walleyes in the mix as well. Best bite in 17-20 feet jigging with a minnow or frozen shiner on pink or gold. On cloudier days with less clarity try shallower waters in 14-16 feet.

Up at the NW Angle, good fishing continues with mixed bags of fish.  Walleyes and pike very active in 20-25 feet near Oak Island and Blackbird Island or the west side of Garden using gold or orange. Perch are spawning and the smallmouth bass are in the shallows as well.  In Ontario waters, numerous spots producing as well.  Try Falcon Island in 25 feet for walleye and crappies.
