New orchard looking good

This spring we started an orchard at the land.  We had 20 flowering crabs along with a half dozen apple trees.  This spring we added 14 more trees including two plum trees.  So far they all are looking good.  These were bare root trees 8-10 feet tall so they should produce soon.  The area behind the apple trees will be a food plot.

thats awsome! crabapple trees, plum trees, cool beans, if thats around ur land u say has so many bear, well....... thats ur new bait site.  orchards are awsome and bear love em' and hard on em'

 question Why flowering crabs? Got grouse you want to attract? You gonna trim the trees for production or let em go natural? I once around Duluth had apples,plums and pears>>The deer would actually shake the pear trees to drop and eat the pears!! Not apples or plums tho.

 I've planted bareroot stock many times and in my opinion the spring is the time to get em in,Fall plantings I had 60-80% die off over winter just dead come spring.They say a fall bareroot plant is OK but nit in my experience! Luckily I had them replaced by buying from the arborday foundation with their guarantee.
