The Trout season outside of the BWCA opens tomorrow, with ice conditions being fair.
Burntside Lake currently has about 5 inches of ice in most places with the possibility of an inch or two more in others where the lake has been frozen earlier than the main lake.
Snowbank Lake has about 7 to 9 inches from Smitty's out to Center Island, conditions on other parts of the lake are unknown.
Tofte Lake had 4-7 inches yesterday afternoon, but the person that checked it recommended staying away from the center, with possible slush in certain areas.
Temperatures are dropping tonight through the next few days which should help ice conditions on all of the trout lakes.

The 3-5 inches of snow we received late last week and warm temps has put a large amount of water and slush over many of the lakes.
There is a cooling period starting Wednesday which will hopefully freeze the slush.
ATV travel, and snowmobiles may have trouble  in certain areas, until the lakes set up better, so I would recommend calling before traveling any long distance to fish Trout.
