Hey All,
Just picked up a new mower, poulan pro(works great so far!) was a lower price model so missing a few bells and whistles, most of which I didnt need on my little yard.  One I'm thinking about is an hour meter.  Most of the maintenance on it is every 50 hours or yearly.(Fuel filter, oil, air filter)  Due to the size of my yard I seriously doubt I will ever hit 50 hours in a year so I will likely just be doing the maintenance every year rather than hourly.  Resale isn't really an issue as I pretty much plan on mowing this thing until its dust(no plans unfortunately for a bigger yard).  Any other reason I should consider putting an hour meter on?  For 10 bucks and 5 minutes the time or money isn't an issue just curious if I should be monitoring for any other reason.
Thanks!

Man 50 hours is a lot to put on in a year.  I think you are on the right track with just doing the maintenance once a year.  I have never needed to change a fuel filter on any of my mowers ever.  Maybe I'm just neglectful though.  I mow 3 acres and it takes me 2 hours to mow, till mine and many other gardens, plus blow snow with it (only used it once this winter) and put 49 hours on it last year.  I'm sure Dew can help you out more than myself though.

Just forget a hour meter. Service it every fall or spring.Fall works best cause you can run some fuel stabilizer through the carb an engine, sharpen blades, change oil run it for 5 minutes and its ready for next mowing season.
I think the hour meters are for high buck machines an resale. But disconnecting them is easy! So what purpose do they really serve? Other than in the manuals saying service with our products at these intervals.Big sale pitch for their own product.
Check the oil every fuel refill!!!! The dipstick on so many blow oil out at that connection its a poor design! but can be sealed if it leaks to much.
