Community Group Adds Walleye to Lake Minnetonka         :Fish: :Fish: :Fish: :Fish: :Fish: :Fish: :Fish:

Lake Minnetonka is being restocked with walleye to help make it a "top walleye destination" again. :happy1:

 :coffee: .......
For the third year, Westonka Walleye Program, which is a community-funded initiative, raised money to add the fish.

About 13,000 adult walleye, or about 1,900 pounds, were put into the lake Friday morning. The fish are 8 to 13 inches and should be roughly 18 inches by next year

"We are stocking the larger-size fish because they have a better chance of overcoming the predator factor," said Johnny Range, founder of Westonka Walleye Program.

He said they started the program because there is very little natural reproduction in Lake Minnetonka

About 30,000 walleyes have been put into the lake since the program started.

A total of $25,000 was raised to pay for the walleye this year.
