great ideas but he missed the best idea.

put your wife in the boat who couldn't catch a walleye on a jig or lindy rig if her life depended on it and get her out bobber fishing.  She will clean your clock with a slip bobber, never watch it, read a book in the sun and at the end of the day out fish you 5 to 1 and tell you that your past accomplishments catching walleyes isn't that impressive anymore.  Heck, I even had my older sister do that to me last year too...any woman will do.  Good luck.  "Where's my bobber?"  "Its down honey...."  ugh.

Ha Ha that sounds like a blast LL.  I haven't bobber fished for a few years but love doing it.  I even like fishing for northerns along the weed edges with a bobber.

The General's slip bobber tip:  unless you're  fishing with kids and going after panfish there is no place for this technique.  Maybe hanging lighted bobbers around the canopy of your camper would be ok.  If I had to use slip bobbers to catch walleyes Id rather be going golfing, hunting, or like Glenn playing in the middle of the road.

In July and August I fish humps in our lake that are nearly impossible to fish with anything but slip bobbers.  It keeps the leech above the low growing weeds that prevail on these spots.  Lindy rig or jig with leech would constantly be fouled with weeds.  The deeper edges can be fished without bobbers but if the fish are 15 feet or less it's the best way to do it.  I love it.  Drifting large humps with leeches and slip bobbers at night is even more fun.

You just keep thinking that way general,  been many times on the water with pressured fish that the only thing they wanted was a minnow swimming circles under a bobber. I would never do this on opener  but by memorial on certain water is the way to go!!!!

:happy1: you guys keep your bobbers.  Just don't pull into a spot myself and 3 or 4 others have been trolling for an hour and drop anchor.  I'll pull out the rap rod with 30 pound braid, hook your bobbers and pull your line, rod and you in the lake if I have to. ;)

;) ;) ;)  My 150' bobber anchor rope is really good at snagging crank baits that come too close!    :dancinred:

General I couldn't agree with you more on that anchor thing.  Anchors should be banned from walleye fishing.  In the Summer around 8-9pm on our lake out come the "fisherman".  I've been drifting a spot for 1-2 hours and finding fish here and there and her comes Mr Bobber Brigade Family and he plops down with the anchor and four people fan cast taking up part of the drift and making things difficult.  I'm with you 100%.

I'd like to find his "secret" public land squatters rights deer hunting spot and arrive around 8am on deer opener and talk bobber fishing with him  :happy1:

Pretty sure your on public water LL,  and it actually goes both ways. 2 years ago I took my folks and my youngest out for an evening bobbering eyes, got out to the spot to find out everyone was fishing deep not even close to us. After the sixth eye hit the well here came the boats, after circling us over and over 2 boats decided to anchor one off the back and one off the front while the rest kept going around us. We filled out, the others didn't come close....

I know Bobber but somewhere in the public water thing comes the common courtesy thing and for everyone it's different.  I'm always friendly to them I keep my muttering in the boat.  99% of them are just out fishing with the family and decided the spot and method they were going to fish before they even left the dock.

The public water thing works great on lakes like Leech when 50 boats are drifting a shoreline in a good wind and someone anchors inconveniencing 49 boats.
