our Seasons Fishing Report June 12, 2016
The fishing this week was very good for our guests. Most of them were fishing for fish. They were open to whatever would bite, and they were not disappointed. The ones who were happy with perch were really happy! The perch were caught on the south shore breakline in 14-16 feet using minnows. Many in the 12-13" range. They ate all they could and still went home with their limits of nice perch.
They were finding walleyes mixed in with the perch. They are also finding some nice northerns in the mix, as well.
For the hardcore walleye fishermen, the best results were fishing the main bars on the topside of the break. Fourteen to seventeen feet of water with jigs and minnows or rigs and leeches were the way to go.
There are some walleyes roaming the flats on their way to the deeper structures. Find the baitfish and the walleyes will be around these areas.
The fishing is moving into the early summer patterns right now. There are some golden opportunities to catch some really nice fish on Winnie. We have openings throughout the remaining month of June. So check your calendar and give us a call. - Joe
